Once approved completed the repair required near lightning speed turning a fairly significant repair in 24 hours after approval. Having recently changed from a locally owned dealership to Group 1, the jury is still out on this place. Same employees, but new systems have caused some issues in the service department. Hoping they can improve because I really love my VW.

Over the past 25 years my family has bought and maintained 7 vehicles at Gene Messer on South University. We’ve always had excellent service from pleasant employees. More than a few times I was given “help” with affording necessary repairs, given a loaner vehicle and generally made to feel like a VIP.
Cade Doty went above and beyond to help me get the vehicle I wanted with the payments I needed as well. Service department is attentive and provides useful information. Online tools for review of car status and service needs are easy to use and helpful. As with all service outfits, be sure to get a complete list of all expected expenses before leaving your car for service in order to avoid surprises when you pick it up!
Great service, went in for an oil change and found out I needed brake pads. They did me a service and found out it was covered under warranty.

I had my car for maintenance today. Mechanic suggested drive belt replacement as a precautionary measure based on the mileage. But the service advisor (Amanda) checked maintenance history and discovered the belt was already replaced 20K miles ago and still shout be good. Outstanding to avoid unnecessary charges. Overall, I had a good experience with the Service Department. Because I'm from out of town, I arrived an hour early, but they were still willing to get my vehicle serviced right away. The reason why I've rated this particular visit to Gene Messer Volkswagen with 4 stars is because, while I was waiting for the service on my Touareg, I had an important question to ask the Parts Department about a 2015 Jetta TDI that I own. The first time that I approached the counter, I waited there for a good 15 minutes, and the man working there never acknowledged my presence, so I walked away. About an hour later, I returned to the Parts Department and another man was also working behind the counter, so this time I approached him. The man was texting on his phone and looking at his computer, and I waited for about 5 minutes for him to acknowledge me. He finally did so and said that he'd help me as soon as he could log into his computer. Five minutes later, he finally asked me what I needed, and I asked him about a very particular part that I needed for my 2015 Jetta, and I even showed it to him on my phone. The man dismissed the part that I was showing him, and he said that if I didn't have the actual part with me, then it would be impossible for him to find it. I asked him if anyone else in Lubbock had the part that I needed, and he did give me a suggestion of a place to check. Altogether, I wasn't impressed by the Parts Department; it seemed as though the two men there were interested at all in interacting with the general public, nor putting forth any extra effort to help me find the part that I needed.

Not empressed,, the salesman who sold me the car was asked to check the windshield wiper fluid cause the sprayer was not working. In the long run my wife and I were stuck with a bill of over 450.00 to have hose replaced. Which should have been covered by the dealer. Very disappointed.

I ended up have to do whatever needed to be done in order to have my car run; otherwise, I have to pay more to car insurance for not having the snapshots plugged in. What kind of customer service is it? Labor for replacing the battery is $89.95 + tax while I can have a free installation if I buy a battery from Costco or Walmart. Stay away from Gene Messer Volkswagen, the worst dealer in town.
